Obstructive Sleep Apnea (Osp) &
Treatment Considerations In
Dentistry
Treatment of sleep disorders is one
of the fastest growing fields of medicine. The direct coloration between
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and major medical conditions like heart
disease, has created increased public awareness about OSA.
With Obstructive Sleep
Apnea (OSA) reaching
epidemic levels and
recent developments in
the role of dentistry in
treating the OSA with
conservative oral
appliances, dentists
have a unique
opportunity to save the
lives of those suffering
while adding a valuable
service to their
practices. Many dentists
are looking to branch
out from traditional
dentistry because they
are either ready to try
something new or because
the economy has forced
them to look for
additional revenue
streams – Dental Sleep
Medicine is one of these
solutions.
This
course will provide the
participants an
introduction to sleep
disorders. After taking
this course the
participants will have a
better understanding of:
- Classifications of
sleep disorders,
clarification of MD and
DDS roles. - Effect
of Obstructive Sleep
Apnea (OSA) on physical
and psychological health
- Diagnostic tools
available to recognize
and categorize OSA -
Treatment options
available to dentists
for treating OSA -
